Economic Sustainability in business is about making a profit that is not detrimental environmentally or socially. Businesses are in business to make a profit. While there may be purpose-driven goals, if a business is commercial, that is a fundamental aim.

There is sometimes confusion because of how Environmental and Social Goverance (ESG) is used interchangeably with ... everything. Also, at the moment, there is a trend that focuses primarily on the reporting aspect of Sustainability. ESG and Data are essential contributions but aren't the same as Economic Sustainability.

My niche of expertise is social and economic Sustainability in business and the supply chain.
